Curiositas research team members gathered on 3-5 June 2021 for a Research Mission to the Melgaço Cinema Museum – Jean-Loup Passek, with the generous support of the Municipality of Melgaço. This Mission aimed to study the collection of views, optical cameras and instruments existing in this unique institution, in collaboration with the museum professionals. The team was welcomed by Museum Coordinator Dr Madalena Lima who, together with Marta Oliveira, opened the doors of the museum collections and archives. The hands-on study of the collection included: typological and theme identification of existing pieces, reactivation of optical devices, photo-documentation and recommendations for best practices in conservation and exhibition.
The Mission also included a Team Meeting, where research team members presented results and discussed future lines of action within the Curiositas project.
